Delaney's Book Drive

I received a note from one of our volunteers who wanted to start her own charitable initiative after participating in our Christmas Care Package event back in December. She is a high school student and her goal is to gather children's books to donate to families who are less fortunate. In addition to having a book drive effort at her school, she asked if I could help spread the word to our group members and on social media. I think this is a great idea and it goes without saying that there is a need for this event! A record number of kids are growing up in low-income households and many public schools lack the funding and resources to provide basic necessities, like books for their students. Without adequatesupplies of books, children cannot learn. As a result, let's make it a goal to collect 2,000 used or new books for these children in need! As a result, let's make it a goal to collect 2,000 used or new books for these children in need! We will locate kids from underprivileged families along with schools that are in need of resources to donate the books to. Education, is a child's best path out of poverty. This is an exciting opportunity, and I ask you, to open your heart and donate a book to a child in need. Here's what to do.. Go through your attic or storage area and look for books geared towards kids ages 0-13. From Berenstain Bears, Dr. Seuss and Pat the bunny to The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Goodnight Moon, and Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See, the possibilities are endless. After you collect your books, please write a quick and uplifting note in the front cover to the family and child who will be receiving the book. Bring the donated books to one of our book drives listed below. There will be three over the next couple of months, so you'll have plenty of time to gather up your books!
