As Founder and CEO of Barbera Foundation, Kevin Barbera strives to motivate and inspire people from all walks of life to actively engage in community service opportunities that improve the lives of those in need. Kevin developed a passion for charitable work shortly after he graduated from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) and began attending graduate school for his Master's in Business Administration at the University of Maryland. On his way into class, Kevin would frequently pass homeless people on the side of the street who asked for food, clothing, and money. He decided to take action and in his spare time delivered sandwiches, burritos, wraps, clothing, etc. to provide assistance to those in need.
Kevin soon discovered that while these simple acts of kindness benefited the less fortunate, they also helped him live a happier and more fulfilling life. Kevin decided to make it a priority to introduce others to various volunteer opportunities so that they too could positively impact the community while simultaneously improving their own lives.
German Philosopher Immanuel Kant put it well when he said that there are three rules to happiness: "something to do, someone to love, and something to hope for." Kevin believes that charitable work can satisfy all of these rules and is passionate about motivating and inspiring you to take that first step to a brighter and more optimistic life.
