Washington Post: A holiday feast for D.C.’s homeless: Turkeys, green beans and ‘all the smiles’

A few weeks ago, a co-worker and I decided to join forces and coordinate a Thanksgiving dinner to feed around 1,000 homeless people in DC. What started as a simple conversation over breakfast, materialized into a phenomenal event with over 100 volunteers bringing their best home cooked meals to those less fortunate. In addition, 2 non-profit organizations were also created as a result: King of Ace Foundation, and the Barbera Foundation.

It is an amazing thing when people from all walks of life come together with a common purpose to give back to the community. I am incredibly blessed to have this opportunity to give back and to meet all you wonderful volunteers!

If you would like to participate in similar events, please make sure to become a member of the Barbera foundation's facebook group (we will be having a wide variety of volunteer opportunities coming up throughout the year): https://www.facebook.com/groups/Barberafoundation/

Thanks again for your help!!

Kevin
