Sleeping Bags for the Homeless

Winter is here and it goes without saying that it is FRIGID outside. While, most of us have roofs over our heads and home cooked meals to keep us warm during the winter season, there unfortunately are those living on the streets during the winter.

I see it everyday when I commute into Washington DC for work: homeless people bundled up in multiple coats and tattered blankets lying still on the ground. Sleeping outside in this cold is very dangerous, with high risk of hypothermia and essentially freezing to death.

Let's help to alleviate this struggle and minimize the risk of hypothermia for those who choose to sleep on the streets during the winter by hand delivering 15-30 sleeping bags (meant for 0-30 F weather and for hiking in the mountains) to the homeless!

Who: Helping homeless people in DC stay warm during the winter

What: We will order 15-30 high quality sleeping bags meant for 0-30 degree temperatures. Ticket sales of $15 will he used to help purchase the sleeping bags. For each ticket purchased, you will receive 1 sleeping bag to hand out.

Where: We will meet at one central location in Washington DC and each volunteer will go out and essentially locate a homeless person to give your sleeping bag(s) to.

Note: It is not required for volunteers to pass out the sleeping bags. If you would like to make a donation to this event, please simply purchase ticket(s) and we will hand out the sleeping bags on your behalf. Thanks!
