About The Event
The Potomac River is one of the largest rivers that flows into the Chesapeake Bay, and is the source of up to 75% of the drinking and washing water in the region. Littering, runoff, and trash contribute to a widespread problem that affects everyone. In addition to the impact litter has on the local environment, it ultimately makes its way to the ocean and can cause severe damage to ocean plant and wildlife in its existing state and as it breaks down over time. It is critical that we do our part to PREVENT trash from getting into the Potomac river and ultimately the ocean.
On 9/22 from 12:30PM-4:30PM, we will be picking up litter at Great Falls Park (9200 Old Dominion Dr. McLean, VA 22102). Great Falls Park will provide trash bags, gloves, trash pickers, etc. Barbera Foundation will provide water and snacks to all the volunteers. All you…
