I wanted to first start by thanking you for your continued effort in making a positive change in our community. The past month has been a busy one for us, and we have definitely been able to do some great things... Valentine's for Vets: The final count is in... and we managed to gather 2,270 personalized Valentine's cards for both disabled veterans and active duty deployed troops! On Monday, we shipped 1,000 of the cards to an organization called Operation Gratitude who will then include the cards in care packages for active duty military serving overseas. We delivered the remaining 1,270 cards to the American Red Cross here in Arlington, VA. What an amazing event and a great turnout of volunteers! Our original goal was 1,000 and we blew it out of the water! There will be many happy vets and service members today because of your efforts. Be on the lookout for pictures of veterans with your cards on Facebook and this website. I will be posting them as they come in.
Embry Rucker Shelter Dinner: Last Saturday, we prepared a dinner at the Embry Rucker Shelter in Reston that fed around 75-100 homeless people. We had a lot of interest in this event and at one point I was worried we wouldn't be able to fit everyone in the kitchen at the same time. There were literally too many cooks in the kitchen! It was a success and the shelter asked us to come back again to serve dinner next month! Feel free to take a look at some of the pictures from the event here. St. Patrick's Day Dinner We need volunteers to help prepare and serve a St. Patrick's Day themed dinner for over 100 homeless people!
